Your First Beach Cottage…

So you just bought your first beach cottage and to be honest, it’s nothing like the one in Nights of Rodanthe on Direct TV. It needs work, a lot of it, and you’re not sure where to start
Get Working on the Outside: It’s imperative that you fortify the outside of your cottage before you touch the inside. Make sure the roof is in good shape and repaint using salt-water resistant colors and make sure you’re hurricane protected if you’re in a bad area, too.
Mess With Wood: One of the easiest changes you can make right off the bat is to change the wood in your cottage. Try to get as much hardwood floor as possible and if you’ve got wooden cabinets, banisters or other accessories, stain and “antique” them to match your color scheme.
Don’t Overdo It: One of the pillars of a great beach cottage is lots of white – don’t overdo it with color. You don’t want your refuge to look “over” decorated so hold back a few notches and hey, bonus, save some money too!
